Whether with direct, monetary contributions, in-kind contributions of hand-sewn items like quilts, garments, aprons or bags or by way of putting our sewing lounge facility to use for the general welfare, Hip Stitch strives to be a good citizen in our neighborhood, in Albuquerque and in New Mexico.
Giving back is at the core of the Hip Stitch mission. We think it exemplifies the spirit of quilting, which is the true "Spirit of the West".
It's that "Spirit of the West" where one helps raise the barn or school in their town, participates in the regional cattle round-up, harvests the apples or honey at the apple bee or the honey bee, and yes, makes the quilt at the quilting bee. These things are done not because the directly benefit the person doing them, but because they bind together a community, and because "paying it forward" makes the world a better place.
